Tollywood actor Sumanth, the grandson of legendary thespian Akkineni Nageswara Rao, is reprising his grandfather’s role in 'NTR' biopic. This morning (20 September 2018), on the occasion of ANR’s 95th birth anniversary, 'NTR' team unveiled Sumanth’s first look as ANR. Sumanth looks quite similar to ANR and perfectly recreates the aura of his legendary grandfather. The first look has raised expectations among fans of both the illustrious Akkineni and Nandamuri families.

Sumanth had kick-started shooting for his part already. Balakrishna and Vidya Balan are essaying NT Ramarao and Basavatarakam’s roles respectively. Rana Daggubati will be portraying Nara Chandrababu Naidu’s role. Krish is directing the movie while Vishnu Induri and Sai Korrapati are producing the movie in association with Nandamuri Balakrishna.

Tollywood actor and educationalist Manchu Mohan Babu’s mother Manchu Lakshmamma passed away at 6 am on Thursday (20 September 2018) morning. She breathed her last at the age of 85 after suffering from a prolonged illness. Manchu Lakshmamma was reportedly bed-bound from past two months in a private hospital Tirupati. She is survived by her children Manchu Mohan Babu who is a popular actor in Tollywood. Her husband Manchu Narayanaswamy Naidu passed away in 2013 in Tirupati.

As per the reports, Mohan Babu and his children are out of the country at the moment and they are on their way back to India after being informed about Lakshmamma’s demise. According to the reports, the last rites of Lakshmamma will be performed on Friday in their hometown.

Manchu Manoj Kumar, the grandson of Lakshmamma, who is also a famous Tollywood actor shared a heart-touching message on social media.

Veteran filmmaker Mani Ratnam is gearing up for the release of the multi-starrer venture ‘Chekka Chivantha Vaanam’. The movie was initially scheduled for a release on September 28, but now the makers have decided to screen the film a day ahead of its initial release date. The new release date of the film to hit the screens is September 27. Now that the film is releasing on Thursday, it has an extra advantage of getting a big opening at the box office. In fact, ‘Chekka Chivantha Vaanam’ is one of the eagerly awaited flicks this month.

Taking to Twitter, the production house tweeted, “Mark your calendars! We're coming a day early! #ChekkaChivanthaVaanam releasing worldwide on the 27th of September.”
Produced by Madras Talkies and Lyca Productions, ‘Chekka Chivantha Vaanam’ has music by AR Rahman. The makers recently unveiled two songs ‘Mazhai Kuruvi’ and ‘Bhoomi Bhoomi’ from the film. The movie is going to release in Telugu also under the title 'Nawab'.

Tollywood and Kollywood actress 'Colors' Swathi got married to her longtime boyfriend Vikas on Thursday (30 August 2018) night. Vikas is working as a pilot. Celebrities generally go for lavish wedding celebrations but Colors Swathi preferred a low-key ceremony. Interestingly, no one from the film industry graced the event. It seems like it is entirely Swathi’s decision. She wanted to have a simple wedding with a limited number of guests. The newlywed couple is going to conduct a reception party on September 2nd in Cochin.

Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan is all set to make his debut in the Tamil film industry with 'Uyarndha Manidhan', which will also star SJ Suryah. The film was announced on Thursday at an event in Chennai. Suryah shared a small video of Superstar Rajinikanth unveiling the title poster of the film, which will be helmed by Tha Tamilvaanan. In the video, Suryah could be heard telling Rajinikanth that the project is the result of two years of groundwork. And he even credited Tamilvaanan for coming up with a good script that convinced Big B.

'Uyarndha Manidhan' will also be shot in Hindi, paving the way for Suryah’s debut in Bollywood. The literal translation of Uyarndha Manidhan is “tall man”, which may be a nod to Amitabh’s height. The term is also used to describe a man (irrespective of his height) of great virtue.

Journalist turned film director B. Jaya passed away on Thursday (30 August 2018) night. The renowned filmmaker who has been suffering from a prolonged illness died due to a cardiac arrest. She was battling with health problems for a long time and had breathed her last a few hours ago. She was one of the very few successful lady filmmakers in Telugu film industry. Her husband B.A. Raju is a popular film journalist and a senior PRO in Tollywood with over thousand movies to his credit.

Jaya did her MA English through Chennai University and MA Psychology with Annamalai University. She began her career as a journalist and wrote columns for popular Telugu daily Andhra Jyothy. She had a passion for filmmaking and made debut as a director with 'Chantigadu' in 2003. B Jaya went on to direct notable movies like 'Gundammagari Manavadu', 'Premikulu' and 'Lovely'. Her last film, a romantic entertainer titled 'Vaisakham', released last year.

During her tenure as her director, Jaya introduced many new faces to Tollywood like Suhasini, Shanvi Srivastava, and many others. Earlier this year the dynamic director was honoured with the IWDA award on the occasion of International Women’s Day. Several Tollywood celebrities took to Twitter to express their condolences.
