Makers of the much-awaited film ‘2.0’ had recently announced that the sci-fi actioner would be releasing in April. Though they haven’t revealed the exact release date of the film, the word in movie circles is that it could be April 27. According to the earlier release plan of the producers of ‘2.0’; the Shankar directorial was to hit the screens on January 26. But, the release was postponed for reasons yet to be made clear by them.

However, a recent update from among those closely following the movie indicates that a Hollywood VFX company could be behind the delay in the film’s release. It is said that a major goof up by the VFX firm forced Lyca Productions, the production house of ‘2.0’, to reschedule the release. It is also heard that the producers have pulled out their assigned work from the firm. Sources also suggest that Lyca Productions is planning to file a lawsuit against the VFX company, saying that they did not fulfill contractual obligations.

Whatever the reasons might be, the delay in the release of ‘2.0’ has disappointed fans of Rajinikanth and Akshay Kumar. The actioner, which also has Amy Jackson in a pivotal role, features music from AR Rahman.

ARTISTES PERFORMANCE:
The acting is excellent. Especially, Maria Olsen puts on an intimidating performance. One of the best portrayals of an exorcist that anyone seen in a long time. She’s not an exorcist, but she puts the matters of getting the job done into her own hands. Her demeanor ruthless and cruel. Her ways are unconventional. A strong no-nonsense character, and it is invigorating to see a woman portray.

TECHNICAL ASPECTS:
With a run-time just over 12 minutes, The Daughters of Virtue delivers a promising horror story with a creepy atmosphere from beginning to end. The setting and tone of the film is dark as it should be. This accompanied by a dramatic theatrical score. This is effective in amplifying the scare factor. The costumes and makeup are parallel to the plot. The end includes some crazy awesome special effects that are effective enough to create a rush of adrenaline. It was beautifully shot and wickedly creepy.

Director Michael Escobebo creates a slow, quiet demon possession film with a simple setting, cinematography, score, and practical visual effects. The Daughters Of Virtue is a prime example of simplicity being innovative.

VERDICT:
'The Daughters of Virtue' is surely a solid horror short and has a strong scope to extend this for a feature film. And, yes..the director is working on a feature version of the short. Make sure you wont miss to watch it!
