With the success of 'Munthirivallikal Thalirkkumbol' at the box office early this year, Malayalam star Mohanlal has emerged as the first Indian star to have five consecutive hits in five months! With this, Mohanlal has set a new record that could be very difficult to break! The five films that have been declared as blockbusters are – Janatha Garage, Oppam, Pulimurugan, Manayam Puli and Munthirivallikal Thalirkkumbol. Reports from the trade have it that Janatha Garage, a bilingual in Telugu and Malayalam, grossed Rs. 135 crores at the box office and Pulimurugan grossed Rs. 150 crores.
The star is gearing up for the release of the Major Ravi directorial war saga '1971: Beyond Borders'. Other films that are slated for release this year are 'Lucifer', which will mark actor Prithviraj’s directorial debut and Shrikumar Menon’s 'Randamoozham'.
Mohanlal’s next movie will be with the director B Unnikrishnan. The duo are teaming up after the success of 'Grandmaster' and 'Mr. Fraud'. While the shooting of this film has commenced, Mohanlal will be joining the sets from 5th March 2017 onwards.
