Keerthy Suresh to play 'Mahanati'

Mahanati Savitri's biopic is very much ready to be launched. After months of secrecy, the makers finally made an official announcement on the occasion of International Women’s Day. Marking this day, Vyjayanthi Movies and Swapna Cinema have released two separate posters for the Telugu and Tamil versions. Actress Keerthy Suresh has bagged the lead role, while Samantha has a key role, a role set in contemporary times and through whom the life and times of the yesteryear screen diva are narrated.

With the film set to go on the floors later in 2017, Ashwin and the team are extremely busy with the pre-production work and finalizing the rest of the cast. Nag Ashwin seems to be out to tell a new-age biopic. The topic of legend Savitri’s work and life is incomplete without mentioning her iconic films with her peers – NTR and ANR. It’ll be interesting to see whom Nag Ashwin signs up to play these two important roles.

The film will be simultaneously made in Telugu and Tamil. It could also be dubbed in Malayalam. The makers, according to reliable sources, are also in talks with Nivin Pauly to play a pivotal role in the film. More details about the project will be revealed soon by the makers.
